PHILADELPHIA – Vanderbilt’s distance trio of Louise Hannallah, Adrienne DiRaddo and Kristabel Doebel-Hickok competed on one of the biggest stages in collegiate track Thursday as they participated in the 115th annual Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Hannallah and DiRaddo both ran in the Olympic Development 5000 meter run while Doebel-Hickok competed in the college women’s 10K. The meet hosted some of the nation’s premier track and field athletes and will serve as a great tune-up for the rest of the season for the three VU distance runners.
“This was a great experience for the three women who competed tonight,” assistant distance coach Rhonda Riley said. “Louise improved her 5K by 10 seconds and had a strong finish. Adrienne and Kristabel both ran very smart races and ran with confidence. I’m happy with their performances and believe this will set them up nicely to compete in three weeks at the SEC championships”
Hannallah led Vanderbilt in the 5K with a personal record time of 17:30.60, placing 29th overall while DiRaddo crossed the finish line at the 17:39.35 mark. Hannallah’s pr Thursday was ten seconds faster than her previous season best.
Doebel-Hickok, who was competing in her first 10K since last year’s SEC outdoor championships, posted a time of 37:25.34, good for 18th place.
The Commodores track and field team will return to the track next weekend as they head south to Oxford, Miss., to compete in the Ole Miss Open on May 2.
