Vanderbilt senior Katherine Delaney finished her career by battling against the best in the nation.
Delaney, who has been a standout for the Commodores in both track and cross country, competed in the 1500 at the NCAA Championshipsin Eugene, Ore., on Thursday, finishing 22nd with a time of 4:22.13.
Delaney is one of the best in school history in the 1500. She set a new lifetime best with a time of 4:17.96 — which ranks as the No. 2 mark on Vanderbilt’s all-time performer’s list — at this year’s NCAA East Regional.
Delaney is one of two Vanderbilt athletes, along with All-American triple jumper Simone Charley, to qualify for the Championships. This marks the first time since 2004 that Vanderbilt has sent multiple representatives to the national meet.
Charley gets into action on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
