Coming off a successful first night of the Florida Relays, where two Vanderbilt runners placed in the top 10, the Commodore track & field team kept the momentum rolling on day two.
Junior Jenn Edobi set the tone for Vanderbilt by setting a personal-best time of 53.16 in the 400-meter dash as the first Commodore competitor of the day. Edobi’s time was good for a seventh-place finish and ranks second all-time on Vanderbilt’s outdoor season performance list.
Freshman Reagan Bustamante continued Vanderbilt’s string of strong performances with an impressive showing in the 800-meter run. Bustamante ran a personal-best time of 2:09.16 and finished 10th overall. Her time also places her seventh all-time in Vanderbilt history. Sophomore Ginger Hutton also set a PR in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.96, which was good for 22nd overall. Sophomore Lydia Witty completed the trio of Commodores competing in the 800-meter run and crossed the line at the 2:17.25 mark.
Freshman Caleigh Lofstead cleared the bar at 12’7.50″ (3.85m) and placed in eighth at the meet, while fellow freshman Margaret Ollinger recorded a vault of 12’1.50″ (3.70m) and placed 13th overall.
A pair of Commodores racing in the 1500-meter run rounded out day at the Florida Relays for Vanderbilt track & field. Maddie Criscione was the top Commodore finisher in the race with a time of 4:34.89 and a 26th-place finish. Freshman Kendall Derry was able to record a new personal-best time with a mark of 4:38.27, which took 36th place.
Vanderbilt will have several relay teams competing tomorrow on the last day of the Florida Relays. The meet will be streamed from 1:35-6:10 p.m. (CT) HERE via ESPN3 and WatchESPN. Below is a full list of athletes that will be competing (all times listed are central time):
