Day two of East Prelim in the books

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Day two of the NCAA Division I Track and Field East Preliminary is in the books. Commodores competed in the pole vault and high jump on the day.

In the pole vault, Vanderbilt’s Meagan Martin tied for 21st by clearing 3.80 meters (12 feet, 5.5 inches). Morgan Toone did not clear the initial height of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11.75 inches).

In high jump competition, Ellie Tidman tied for 23rd with a jump of 1.72 meters (five feet, 7.75 inches). Brionne Williams tied for 39th with a mark of 1.67 meters (five feet, 5.75 inches).

The East Preliminary concludes tomorrow. Vanderbilt will see Kristen Findley compete in the quarters of the 1,500 meters at 6:45 p.m. If Findley is in the top five of her quarter or is one of the top-two times within the top-five finishers in each quarter, she will advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

Kristen Smith will compete in the 5,000 meters at 8:45 p.m. The top five from each of two heats, plus the next two best times, will advance to Des Moines.
