NASHVILLE, Tenn. – This weekend the No. 6 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team continues the 2016 season at the same place they ended their 2015 campaign, Waco, Texas.
Vanderbilt takes on the Baylor Bears Saturday morning at 11:30 am CT, outside in the Hurd Tennis Center, a complex with so much significance for the Vanderbilt women’s tennis program as they were awarded the national championship trophy on court one of the grandstand. Saturday’s match will be the squad’s first outdoor match of the dual season.
With a 6-2 record, the squad’s only two losses to Ohio State, VU takes on a 30th ranked Baylor squad who come into Saturday’s contest with wins over Hawaii and Oregon. The Bears are currently riding a two-match losing streak, having fallen to Washington and the SEC’s own Florida.
The Commodores hold a 7-1 all-time record against the Bears, including a 4-3 loss in Nashville in 2015. Baylor’s only win over Vandy took place in 2006 when the Bears came out on top 4-2.
For Vanderbilt fans in the lone star state, admission to all Baylor home regular season matches is free.
