Commodores place 26 on ALC Honor Roll

Aug. 27, 2010

Twenty-six Commodore lacrosse players were named to the ninth-annual American Lacrosse Conference Honor Roll, league commissioner Peggy Pruitt announced Friday.

Student-athletes who maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better during the 2009-10 academic year were eligible for the honor. A total of 118 student-athletes were recognized across the six schools, with Vanderbilt’s 26 honorees pacing the conference.

“We are extremely proud of being the league leader in academic excellence,” Head Coach Cathy Swezey said. “And to couple that success with four straight trips to the postseason speaks very highly of the kind of people that we have at Vanderbilt.”

The Commodores went 12-6 last year and earned their sixth overall NCAA Tournament berth. The list of those honored for academic excellence by the league included All-Americans Sarah Downing and Ally Carey.
