MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s golf team is in eighth position after nearly completing their second round at the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club on Monday. The Commodores have a total of 38-over par, and have between two and four holes left in their second round. Those final holes, and the last 18 of the tournament, will be completed on Tuesday morning beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
Conditions were very winter-like in Memphis on Monday, with temperatures topping off in the mid 40’s with a cold wind blowing for most of the day.
“Obviously, it was a tough day out there today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “I continue to see some good things from the guys. We have to be more self-disciplined and consistent with our focus and toughness every day, and I’m excited to see how they respond tomorrow.”
Freshman John Voetsch, who is playing as an individual, leads all Vanderbilt players with a five-over par total. Sophomore Jordan Janico leads all scoring Commodores, and is in a tie for seventh after posting a first-round 74 and a four-over par score through 16 holes of his second round. Junior Charlie Ewing fired a first-round 75 and is five-over through 15 and is in a tie for 18th, while sophomore Ben Fogler is in a tie for 27th after shooting a 79 in the first round and three-over par score through 14 holes of his second round. Sophomore Hunter Stewart is in a tie for 50th, and junior Mills Rendell is in a tie for 78th.
Austin Peay leads the tournament at 23-over par, six strokes better than second-place Louisiana Lafayette. Individually, the Governors’ Dustin Korte is in the lead with a two-over par score.
The final holes of the second round will conclude at 8 a.m., with the final round beginning immediately following.
