Vanderbilt plays at Elon Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt goes on the road for the first time this season to face Elon at noon CT on Friday.

  • Vanderbilt (2-0) is 1-1 all-time vs. Elon (0-2). Friday’s contest will be the first meeting since 2017.
  • A live stream of the game will be available online with a subscription to FloSports.
  • The Commodores cracked the top 25 in two national polls after a 14-12 upset win over No. 12 Notre Dame on Saturday. Vandy is ranked No. 22 in the ILWomen/IWLCA Top 25 and No. 17 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Top 20.
  • Head coach Beth Hewitt recorded her 99th career win Saturday vs. No. 12 Notre Dame. It was Vanderbilt’s third win over a ranked opponent in Hewitt’s four seasons.
  • Fifth-year senior Gabby Fornia tallied her 200th career point Saturday. She is just the fifth Commodore to reach the mark.
  • Fifth-year senior Melissa Hawkins was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore Ellie Hilsabeck was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for their performances in the win over Notre Dame. Hawkins led the Vandy defense with four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Hilsabeck scored a team-high four goals.
  • Hawkins ranks second among active NCAA D-I athletes in career caused turnovers and fourth in ground balls. Fornia is second in career assists and assists per game.
  • A win Friday at Elon would mark Vanderbilt’s best start to a season since the team won its first five games to start the 2019 season.
