Commodores Drop Close Contest in Columbia

Vandy falls at No. 20 Mizzou despite four in double figures

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Kobe Brown scored 16 of his game-high-tying 18 points in the second half to help No. 20 Missouri hold off Vanderbilt men’s basketball 85-82 Saturday at Mizzou Arena.

DeAndre Gholston matched Brown with 18 points, D’Moi Hodge recorded 17 and Noah Carter scored 16 for the Tigers (13-2, 2-1 SEC), who made 10 3-point field goals in addition to going 27 of 31 at the foul line.

Liam Robbins paced the Commodores (8-7, 1-1 SEC) with 16 point and seven rebounds, while Jordan Wright posted 14—all after the intermission—and six, respectively. Ezra Manjon finished the contest with 12 points, seven assists and six rebounds, Trey Thomas scored 10 points and Myles Stute shared team-high honors with Robbins after grabbing seven rebounds.

Vandy shot 48.5 percent from the floor, outscored Mizzou 44-22 in the paint and held a 46-27 rebounding advantage.

The Commodores take on another nationally-ranked opponent when they visit No. 8 Tennessee Tuesday at 8 p.m. CT.
