MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt track team competed in the Rhodes College Open Meet on March 20.
The Commodores were led by junior Kristabel Doebel-Hickok, who started the day off for VU with a second-place finish in the 10k with a time of 36:51.69. Doebel-Hickok was only nine seconds behind the winner, Calvin College’s Jessica Koster.
“(This was a) good start for Kristabel and definitely something we can build from,” noted distances coach Steve Keith. “(We have an) ultimate goal of sub-36, so we are right on schedule.”
The Commodores return to action this weekend as they host the Black and Gold Invitational at the Vanderbilt Track Complex. Vanderbilt University will be debuting its new Mondo track surface at the meet, which will begin at 6:00pm on Friday, March 26 with women’s hammer and men’s hammer.
