KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s track team completed their final day of the Sea Ray Relays on Friday.

Junior Taylor Jackson led the Commodores with a 200 meter dash time of 24.29. Jackson’s career high time put her in seventh place.

Also taking seventh place for the Commodores was junior Rita Jorgensen, who ran her way to a 4:29.16 finish in the 1,500 meter run. Jorgensen continues to shave time off of her 1,500, inching her closer to a qualifying mark for the East Preliminary Round of the 2010 NCAA Championships.

“Rita dropped a couple more seconds and is getting further into the race on the pace we’d like to run,” Vanderbilt distances coach Steve Keith commented. “I’m encouraged by her improvement and she looks much more confident and comfortable at a 70-71 pace. She can be close to her PR level within the next few weeks.”

The Commodores return to the friendly confines of the Vanderbilt Track Complex to host the Vanderbilt Invitational next Friday and Saturday, April 16-17. Check back on vucommodores.com for more information.
