The BBVA Compass Bowl is nearly upon us. On Tuesday, five busses departed Vanderbilt’s campus shortly after 2 p.m. for Birmingham and arrived at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Ala., at 5:30 p.m.

The hotel, which is also home to SEC Football Media Days each July, will serve as Vanderbilt’s team headquarters the rest of this week.

After arriving at the hotel, James Franklin and select players met with the local media. The coaches and players then held a team meeting to discuss the rest of the week’s bowl preparation.

The Commodores will start early Wednesday with a staff meeting at 7 a.m. and a team meeting at 8:20 a.m.

Vanderbilt will open practice at 10:45 a.m. at Hoover High School Wednesday morning for their first of three practice sessions at the local high school.
