Commodore Women Come in Third at Pre-Nationals

Vanderbilt cross country was paced by Ellie Wolski, Michael Skora in Madison

MADISON, Wis. – The Commodore women’s cross country squad earned third place in the 6-kilometer B Race Saturday at the 2024 Wisconsin Pre-Nationals at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. The Vanderbilt men’s team placed 19th in the 8-kilometer B Race.

For the first time this season the Vanderbilt women were paced by Ellie Wolski who placed ninth out of more than 200 individual runners. The graduate student clocked 20:45.8, which is 7 seconds faster than her previous personal best. The next Commodore finisher was senior Julia Rosenberg, turning in a time of 21:08.3 to finish 29th. Freshman Claire Petersen was the third finisher for the Dores and 37th overall in her second ever collegiate cross country race. Her time was 21:26.0, the sixth fastest time among freshmen. Senior Cameron Fawcett and graduate student Ella Lambert also contributed to the Dores’ scoring, recording times of 21:30.1 and 21:37.2, respectively.

On the men’s side, freshman Michael Skora once again led the way for the Dores, finishing 36th with a time of 24:35.5. Sophomores Brady Bliven (25:26.1) and Mitchel Drees (25:26.8), junior David Song (25:43.4) and senior Zach Hodges (26:04.8) also scored for the Commodore men.

Senior Gigi Clifford (21:43.7) and Song recorded personal-best times Saturday.

The Commodores will be back in action Nov. 1 for the SEC Cross Country Championships at Watts Cross Country Course in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
