On campus in Nashville — Meagan Martin might be one of the most skilled athletes to ever enjoy a career at Vanderbilt. As a Commodore pole vaulter from 2009-12, Martin set a program record (3.95 meters) at the 2012 SEC Indoor Championships and went on to become a professional rock climber in her post-Vanderbilt life. But Martin also gained national recognition as a contestant on NBC/Esquire Network’s American Ninja Warrior, where she became just the third female competitor to complete the show’s qualifying course. Martin will re-join ANW during its spring season.
This week Martin took time out of her busy life to catch up with the Commodore Insider Podcast, where she discussed her Vanderbilt track and field career, how she got into pole vaulting as a kid in Florida, what it takes to compete on American Ninja Warrior, how she became a professional rock climber and much more.
