NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team hosts Northwestern tomorrow for its final match before opening SEC play.
The Commodores enter Friday’s matchup winners of three straight with victories over Belmont, Southern Indiana, and Middle Tennessee. The Wildcats, however, are trending the opposite direction, dropping their last three. Two of those losses did come to ranked opponents; Northwestern fell 5-2 to No. 24 Harvard and 4-0 to No. 7 Duke, who also took down the Dores 4-0 on Jan. 26 at ITA Kickoff Weekend.
Doubles play has favored the Dores thus far. Vanderbilt has a combined six ranked doubles wins, including yesterday from junior Nathan Cox and senior Michael Ross against Middle Tennessee. In total, Vandy is 15-4 in dual match doubles play to begin the spring season. The Commodores hold a 10-7 all-time record over the Wildcats, with the most recent win coming in a 7-0 sweep last season.
Vanderbilt (6-2) faces Northwestern (2-3) at home tomorrow with play set to begin at 3 p.m. Live streaming is available online, with live stats accessible here at the start of the match.
