Bowlers head to Delaware

Nov. 16, 2011

Tournament Details
It’s the annual Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Classic, played in Millsboro, Delaware, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Twenty teams are scheduled to compete at the Millsboro Lanes.

The teams will bowl five Baker games Friday afternoon. Saturday sees five team games and Sunday’s finale has a bracket with three rounds of the best four-of-seven Bakers match play.

Vanderbilt’s Recent Hawk History
The Commodores had won four titles in a row before last year’s dismal 11th place finish when seemingly nothing went right. Two years ago, Brittni Hamilton was fourth individually, making the all-tournament team, and then-freshman Jessica Earnest was sixth.

Commodore Travelers
Vanderbilt, coming off a second-place finish at the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational, will add junior Kim Carper to its travel roster of seniors Brittni Hamilton and Samantha Hesley, juniors Jessica Earnest and Sarah O’Brien and freshmen Natalie Goodman and Nicole Mosesso.

The Coach Says
Vanderbilt coach John Williamson says his team spent a good portion of its practice time since the FDU meet working to smooth out some of the wrinkles it realized in that opener.

Participating Teams
Adelphi, Central Missouri, Delaware State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Howard, Hampton, Kutztown, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Monmouth, Morgan State, New Jersey City, Norfolk State, North Carolina A & T, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, Saint Peters, Sam Houston State, Texas Southern, Valparaiso and Vanderbilt.

Looking Ahead
Vanderbilt will conclude its fall schedule Dec. 2-4 by competing for the first time in the Sam Houston State Invitational.
