Elly Faulkner is a junior from Louisville, Ky., and a member of the Vanderbilt women’s swimming team.
Last concert attended?
Waka Flocka and Steve Aoki Block Party. I did so much dancing my legs were sore the next day!
What motivates you?
My parents motivate and inspire me to be a better person and work hard at everything I do. They have taught me that doing the right thing always pays off, even if it is the harder thing to do.
What will you be doing 10 years from now?
I plan to run my own multinational company.
Why did you get into swimming?
When I was four, my mom threw me in the pool and told me I had no choice but to do swim practice, and I’m thankful for it everyday!
How did you end up at Vanderbilt?
I have been traveling to Nashville for club swim meets since I can remember and loved the city. Vanderbilt’s academics and growing swim team made it the perfect school for me.
What was your first job?
Swim coach at a country club in Louisville
First music you ever purchased?
Spice Girls or Backstreet Boys
Farthest you’ve been from home?
I have been all over Europe: Sweden, Poland, Russia, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Spain, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, and others.
Favorite author?
I love Mary Kay Andrews books for some fun, easy reads.
Do you have pets?
I have the most amazing golden retriever named Daisy.
If you were invisible, where would you go?
I would definitely use my invisibility to play harmless tricks on people. I like to think I am quite the prankster, but with invisibility my pranks would be on a whole new level!
