Weekend Preview: Vanderbilt travels to Missouri for a three-game series beginning Friday.

  • Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 30-5 and has won each of the last five series against the Tigers since 2019.
  • The Dores’ last visit to Columbia was in 2023 when Vandy took two of three from the Tigers. Chris Maldonado went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the series opener.

Brodie Barrels: Brodie Johnston is second in the SEC in hits, sixth in total bases, sixth in doubles and eighth in runs scored.

  • Johnston also ranks top-30 in the SEC in batting average, home runs, RBI and slugging.
  • He has a team-leading 21 multi-hit games this season including one four-hit performance and eight three-hit games.
  • Defensively, Johnston has 9.84 defensive runs saved, good for 12th nationally among third basemen according to D1Baseball’s Synergy Leaderboard.
  • Johnston’s 15 long balls in 2025 were the most by a Vanderbilt freshman since Pedro Alvarez hit 22 in 2006.
  • He was named MVP of the 2025 SEC Tournament as a freshman.

Be Like Mike: Mike Mancini has hit nine home runs in SEC games, third-most in the league.

  • In SEC play, he ranks 11th in RBI, fifth in stolen bases, 16th in slugging and is ninth in OPS.
  • For the season, Mancini leads the team in stolen bases with 16 on 16 attempts and is third in OPS at 1.091. His 38 walks are tied with teammate Ryker Waite for fifth in the league.

Holc Smash: Braden Holcomb leads Vanderbilt in doubles with 16 and is second in home runs with 13.

  • Holcomb’s 68 hits is tied for third in the SEC. He ranks fourth in doubles and 14th in RBI.
  • His 20 multi-hit games are second on the team as are his 11 multi-RBI games.
  • Holcomb was ranked as the No. 24 outfielder by D1baseball in their Week 12 position rankings.

Power Surge: Vanderbilt has hit 100 home runs this season, matching the program record set in 2019.

  • The Commodores rank fourth in DI and have homered in all but 10 games.
  • Vanderbilt’s .933 team OPS ranks 17th in DI.
  • Vandy’s seven homers in the win over North Dakota State on March 6 was the most in a game for the Dores since 2018.

Brooks Wallace Award Semifinalist: Ryker Waite was named one of 50 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award on April 22.

  • He is hitting .297 this season with 18 extra-base hits, 34 RBI and a team-leading 38 walks.
  • Defensively, Waite has 11.48 defensive runs saved, good for sixth nationally among shortstops according to D1Baseball’s Synergy Leaderboard.
  • His 38 walks are tied with teammate Mike Mancini for fifth in the league.
  • The award honors the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year.

Walk This Way: Vanderbilt’s 267 walks rank 23rd among DI programs and fourth in the SEC.

  • Ryker Waite and Mike Mancini are tied for the team lead with 38.
  • Waite and Mancini rank fifth among SEC players.
  • After drawing 10 walks last season, Brodie Johnston has surpassed that total as a sophomore, currently sitting at 28.

Strong Side: Vanderbilt has arguably the nation’s best defensive duo on the left side of the infield.

  • Brodie Johnston (3B) and Ryker Waite (SS) each rank top-15 in defensive runs saved for their respective positions according to D1Baseball’s Synergy Leaderboard.
  • D1Baseball ranked Johnston as the No. 3 third baseman in their Week 12 position rankings while Waite came in at No. 25 for shortstops.

Korbin Cannon: Freshman catcher Korbin Reynolds has thrown out 14 runners on the basepaths this season on just 31 attempts.

  • He is tied for first among SEC catchers in runners caught stealing. His nine (26 attempts) in SEC play are also tops in the league.

TGoodi on the Mic: In just 58 at-bats in SEC play, Tommy Goodin has hit six home runs.

  • In SEC contests, Goodin ranks 10th in slugging and 21st in home runs.
  • The sophomore has 11 homers on the season in just 114 at-bats.
  • With Vanderbilt trailing Tennessee by three runs in the ninth on March 29, Goodin launched a pinch-hit grand slam to lead the Dores past the Vols.
  • A musician off the field, Goodin’s walk-up music is self-made.

Turning Two: Vanderbilt has turned 43 double plays this season, more than any SEC team and 16th in DI.

Barczi Bombs: Colin Barczi belted three home runs in the season-opener against No. 10 TCU to become the first Commodore since Connor Kaiser in 2018 with a three-homer game.

  • Barczi’s homers traveled a combined 1,340 feet with each surpassing 430 feet.
  • After missing time due to injury, Barczi again hit three home runs in a game at Texas A&M on April 2 to become the first Commodore in program history with multiple three-home run games.
  • Six of his 11 homers this season have come in two games, both in the state of Texas.
  • Barczi has left the yard five times in the last 10 games.
