NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt senior John Augenstein was honored as the SEC Golfer of the Week after winning the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate last week.
Augenstein won the individual title by six shots at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate after shooting a 15-under-par 201. Vanderbilt won the team championship by 24 shots. It was the second individual title of Augenstein’s career.
The senior from Owensboro, Kentucky, shot a first-round 63 at Desert Mountain, which included seven consecutive birdies, nine birdies overall and no bogeys. The 63 tied a program low for a single round.
Augenstein has a single-season stroke average of 69.95 and has four top-10 finishes, three top-5 finishes and one individual title this season.
Vanderbilt returns to the course March 16-17 at the Valspar Intercollegiate in Palm City, Florida.
