Another Strong Performance at June Stewart Invitational

Dores go 5-0 in singles

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ­– The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team swept singles and won two more doubles matches on day two of the June Stewart Invitational on Saturday.

Vanderbilt went 5-0 in singles matches versus Illinois. Bridget Stammel earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Josie Frazier, while Anessa Lee was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Emily Casati.

Sonya Macavei took down Megan Heuser, 6-2, 4-6, 10-5. Marcella Cruz and Dasha Kourkina also won in straight sets on Saturday.

Moving to doubles, the pairing of Celia-Belle Mohr and Anna Ross battled Missouri’s Mae Canete and Emelie Schwarte to a 7-6 (7-3) win. The duo of Stammel and Cruz secured a 7-6 (7-1) win over Gabriela Martinez and Koral Koldobski.

The June Stewart Invitational concludes on Sunday.
