Pair of doubles teams ranked among the preseason Top 50

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A pair of Vanderbilt women’s tennis doubles teams were among the top 50 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason rankings announced Tuesday, including a top 10 Commodore duo.

Sophomore Holly Staff and junior Anna Ross will start the 2021-22 campaign as the No. 9-ranked doubles team. The pair ranked as high as No. 18 in the ITA doubles rankings last season as the two topped four ranked foes, including a second-ranked duo from Florida, a 16th-ranked duo from South Carolina, a 25th-ranked duo from Tennessee and a 28th-ranked duo from Arkansas.

In addition, a new Commodore pairing of junior Marcella Cruz and graduate transfer MaryAnn Rompf will start the season as the nation’s 48th-ranked doubles team.

Vanderbilt will begin the 2021-22 season at the Debbie Southern Classic in Greenville, South Carolina, Sept. 17-19. The full Fall schedule is here.
