CASHIERS, N.C. – Vanderbilt junior Adam Hofmann claimed medalist honors at The Hummingbird Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, finishing the tournament at seven-under par, 135 (66-69), two strokes in front of second-place Matt Nagy of Kennesaw State.
Hofmann led wire-to-wire in the 36-hole event after firing a two-under par, 69, on Tuesday to keep his competitors at bay. It is Hofmann’s first career individual championship and the fifth in the Tom Shaw era (2006).
Jacksonville rallied past the Commodores down the stretch to claim the team title. Vanderbilt, who led the tournament by seven strokes heading into the final round Tuesday, fell to the streaky Dolphins after combining to count a nine-over par on the back nine. Meanwhile, Jacksonville shot eight-under as a team on the back nine of the Country Club of Sapphire Valley course.
Vanderbilt concluded its fall season Tuesday at the Hummingbird and returns to the course February 21 and 22 of 2011 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.

Hofmann is the second Commodore golfer to win medalist honors at the Hummingbird. Hudson Johnson also claimed the individual title in 2008.
