FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Vanderbilt rearranged the record book and scored in the opening race of the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center.
The conference meet began Thursday with the pentathlon and distance medley relay. Vanderbilt got into the scoring with an eighth-place finish and earned a spot in the school record books with the eighth-fastest finish in school history.
Haley Walker took the first leg and handed off to Kaira Brown for the 400-meter leg. Nicole Anderson ran the next 800 before Grace Jensen took the anchor leg and stopped the clock at 11:31.08 — the fastest finish for Vandy since 2016.
In the pentathlon, Jada Sims was just out of the scoring with 3,515 points and a 10th-place finish. Josephine Dal was 14th with 3,370 points and Regan Clay was 16th with 3,242 points.
The women’s meet resumes 5:30 p.m. Friday with the high jump and semifinals of the mile at 7 p.m. The second day concludes with the 200-meter prelims at 8:35 p.m.
The final day of competition begins on the track at 6 p.m. and will finish with the 4×400 relay at 7:20 p.m.
