Josie Hahn Reynolds hails from a family of athletes. Her father, Scott, played a season of football at Eastern Illinois University. One of Hahn’s two older brothers holds a Tennessee age group bench press record, while the other played basketball at Tennessee Wesleyan.
But Hahn, in her own right, left quite an athletic legacy at Vanderbilt. She left West End as one of the most decorated all-around track athletes in Commodore history. Hahn finished as a two-time All American in the pentathlon and a two-time All-American in the heptathlon and won an individual SEC championship in 2004. That same year, Hahn was named Tennessee Female Amateur Athlete of the Year by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
Hahn capped her junior campaign in 2004 setting school records in five events. Today, she continues to hold Vanderbilt records in the high jump (6’) and the javelin (147′ 2″). Her name is etched into the Vanderbilt track record book in the high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin, 60-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and total points in the heptathlon. Hahn also earned SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year honors in 2005.
A Clinton, Tenn. native, Hahn was a three-time All-State selection and valedictorian at Anderson County High. Today, Hahn is married to Bobby Reynolds, the most decorated player in Vanderbilt men’s tennis history and now the head coach at Auburn University.
All 2017 Vanderbilt Hall of Fame inductees will be honored during the Commodores’ home football opener against Alabama A&M on Sept. 9.
