The final day of the Omaha Challenge brought the grand daddy of the Omaha Challenge.. the Obstacle Course.
The tire tractor made a repeat performance as the beginning of the Challenge. Individuals flipped the tire five times before moving onto the farmer’s walk across the football field. The farmer’s walk featured an awkward combination of weights with 50- and 30-pound kettle bells. Competitors toted the weights 45 yards before switching hands and returning the weights to their starting spots.
A 100-pound med ball awaited in the corner of the end zone. The players rolled the ball to the goal post then carried it back to the corner. Up next was a 135-pound sled. The Dores pulled the sled toward them using a rope before returning it by walking backwards. Chains with 25-pound med balls attached were then pulled backwards 25 yards before turning around and pulling them back 25 yards to the starting point. Finally, a sprint to the top of the stadium bleachers finished the leg-searing event.
Freshman Michael Sandborn took the top spot with an impressive time of 4:22.8 narrowly beating Penn Murfee’s 4:23.6.
Sandborn’s victory in the Obstacle Course wasn’t enough to catch Murfee in the pitchers’ overall competition as the newly transitioned Murfee took home the crown. On the position side, Will Toffey took the top spot and top spot overall with freshman Harrison Ray finishing second.
In the team competition, Team Murfee rallied over the final days to clip Team Toffey and take the team title.
