All athletes from middle Tennessee1 who are eligible to compete for their high school under TSSAA rules are invited to enter, and the best eight athletes in each event, regardless of their classification (AAA, A-AA, or Div.II) will go head-to-head at the meet. Entry Process

Online registration will be open on Sunday, March 20, 2011. All meet entries must be submitted by each school’s track & field coach online at www.directathletics.com

VIEW ALL ENTRIES

Entry performances must be 2011 performances (indoor or outdoor) and the results must be available online for verification (you will be asked to supply a link). No “split times” or “estimations of ability” will be accepted, and track times for distances of 400m or less must be FAT (no hand times will be accepted). A descending order list of entries will be available at the meet website throughout the entry process. In the event of a tie between entry performances, the athlete whose entry was received first will be given preference. Online entry will close at 11:59pm on Sunday, April 17th. Athletes may enter and compete in a maximum of 3 events.

Important information regarding spikes on the Vanderbilt track:
ATHLETES WILL NOT RUN IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY WITH THESE RULES:
• The use of 1/4″ pyramid spikes will be strictly enforced
• NO NEEDLE OR CHRISTMAS TREE SPIKES ALLOWED
• No permanent spike shoes allowed
• Shoes will be checked at last call in the Clerk Area and prior to getting on the track

Scratching & Alternates

A coach may scratch an athlete from the meet entirely, or from an event (or events) on or before Monday, April 18th at 3:00pm. After that time, it will be assumed that each athlete intends to compete in all events entered. The top three alternates are invited to show up to the meet ready to compete. While we, of course, cannot guarantee they will get to compete, there are always scratches, and our aim is to have eight athletes compete in EVERY event. Alternates should check in as if they were competing. If an athlete has not checked in with the clerk 15 minutes before the start of their event they will be automatically scratched and their spot will be offered to the first alternate (who has checked in) in that event.

Entry Fees

Entry fee is $10. Checks should be made payable to “Vanderbilt Track and Field.” Cash is okay too.

Winners in each event will receive a Great 8 t-shirt. The Male and Female Athletes of the Meet will receive a Backpack.
