NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team finished day one of the SEC Fall Coaches’ Classic with four wins as each of the four Commodore doubles tandems recorded one win apiece.
In doubles flight A, Amanda Taylor and Courtney Ulery scored an easy victory over Radka Ferancova and Elna de Villiers of Mississippi State 8-1. In the top half of the flight A draw, Taka Bertrand and Catherine Newman also scored an easy win, defeating Mississippi State’s Renee Joseph and Daniela Juskova 8-2.
In flight B of doubles play, Caroline Ferrell and Katie Kilborn scored a win in the first round over Miki Jocic and Natasa Vuckovic of South Carolina 8-5. The Vanderbilt pair fell in the quarterfinals 8-2 to Jennifer Meredith and Samantha Orlin of Tennessee.
Also competing in doubles flight B, Liberty Sveke and Keilly Ulery defeated Auburn’s Heather Bybee and Dunja Djuranovic 8-1 before falling in the quarterfinals to Alaina Trgovich and Sarah Woestmann of Kentucky 8-2.
