WS: Three 'Dores Named All-SEC

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. –Junior Katie Schulz and freshmen Molly Kinsella and Mary Rachel Reynolds picked up All-Southeastern Conference honors the league announced Tuesday night.

Schulz, a midfielder, was a second-team All-SEC performer as selected by the conference coaches. It is third time she has earned an SEC honor after a first-team showing as a sophomore and an All-Freshman team selection in 2005. She started in 15 of 18 games this season as the stabilizer in the midfield and scored a goal in the Ole Miss contest.

Both Kinsella and Reynolds were named to the All-Freshmen team.

Kinsella, a forward, started in 18 of 19 games and finished as the team’s leading scorer with six goals and three assists on the year. The Memphis native led the team with three game winning goals and finished with four goals in conference play.

Reynolds, a defender, was one of three Commodores to start in all 19 games on the year and the only freshman to do so. She scored her first career goal against Mississippi State on Oct. 28, and played an important role in a young defense that helped record six shutouts on the year.

The Commodores finished the year 6-10-3 overall and 3-6-2 in league play. They barely missed out on the SEC Tournament that starts tomorrow in Orange Beach.

Georgia head coach Patrick Baker was named SEC Coach of the Year after guiding the Bulldogs to their record in school history at 15-2-2.

Tennessee’s Kylee Rossi earned her second straight SEC Offensive Player of the Year honor. She led the conference in points and goals scored in SEC matches. She also led the SEC with five game-winning goals. Rossi was a unanimous first team All-SEC selection.

South Carolina’s Blakely Mattern was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year. She helped lead the Gamecock defense to 11 shutouts this season, including five in conference play. Mattern is a All-SEC first team selection after earning second team honors as a freshman.

Kelli Corless of Georgia is the SEC Freshman of the Year. Corless helped lead a Bulldog defense that only allowed nine goals in 11 SEC matches. Corless was the only freshman to receive All-SEC honors, earning Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team honors for her outstanding play.
