The women’s tennis team travels to Greensville, South Carolina for the Furman Classic to start their fall season. The Classic will host eight colleges, including seven who were ranked in the top 35 in the final 2011 ITA rankings: North Carolina (4th), Clemson (14th), Florida State (15th), Vanderbilt (16th), Tennessee (17th), Alabama (28th), and South Carolina (32nd).
Head Coach Geoff Macdonald, in his 18th year with the Commodores, and assistant coach Aleke Tsoubanos will bring freshman Ashleigh Antal, sophomore Lauren Mira, junior Nelly Radeva, and seniors Megan Gornet, Chelsea Preeg, and Jackie Wu to Greensville.
Wu went 19-13 overall last season, with a 12-0 mark in doubles, and was tied for most wins in conference with Preeg at seven.
Doubles play begins Friday at 9 a.m., followed by singles action at 1 p.m. Play continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
