Women's Tennis signs Robertson

June 23, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s tennis head coach Geoff Macdonald announced the signing of Erica Robertson to a National Letter of Intent on Monday.

A native of Watertown, Mass., Robertson is the fourth member of Vanderbilt’s signing class that will join the Commodores beginning in the fall of 2008.

“(Erica) is one of the best players in New England,” Macdonald said. “She’s a five-star recruit and she is a very good addition to our team. We are excited to have her.”

In addition to Robertson, the Commodores signed Chelsea Preeg (Naples, Fla.), Heather Steinbauer (Woodlands, Texas) and Jacqueline Wu (Holmdel, N.J.) to National Letters of Intent in November. Earlier this season, Robertson’s RPI had been ranked as high as No. 38 in the nation.

Prior to the signing of Robertson, Tennisrecruiting.net had rated Vanderbilt’s signing class No. 5 in the nation as of June 2.

“This class has accomplished quite a bit,” Macdonald said. “Given their results and accomplishments, I think they are the best class in the nation. We are excited about the class and the kind of impact they will have.”

Robertson is currently ranked No. 61 in the nation according to Tennisrecruiting.net. The same site also has her ranked No. 2 in New England and No. 1 in Massachusetts.
