Women’s tennis receives letters of intent from two

11/18/2004

The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team is pleased to announce the signing of two new players for the 2005-06 season. Liberty Sveke and Courtney Ulery signed letters of intent on November 11, 2004.

Liberty Sveke is from Sarasota, Florida and has played in USTA and ITF tournaments across the country. In 2003 she was ranked #4 in G16 singles. Sveke has been playing tennis since she was six years old. Sveke is considering studying law and psychology at Vanderbilt. “My biggest achievement as a tennis player is having won five national titles,” said Sveke. “I also finished last year ranked #4 in singles and #1 in doubles in the nation.” Sveke describes herself as an all court player.

Courtney Ulery comes to Vanderbilt from Boca Raton, Florida where she played at Active Learning Academy. Ulery has experience in international play and brings that knowledge to the Commodores. “I would describe my style as an aggressive baseliner,” said Ulery on her play. “I try to rely on my serve and forehand to control points.” Ulery ranked as high as #3 in Florida 18s. She is also currently ranked #24 Nationally in 18s and #779 in WTA rankings.
