Wiseman tabbed Cape League All-Star

Rising sophomore Rhett Wiseman has been named a Cape Cod League All-Star after a stellar summer so far for the Cotuit Kettleers.

Through 30 games, Wiseman is hitting .280 with nine doubles, one triple and a pair of home runs. The Mansfield, Mass. native has scored has scored 16 runs and drive in 13 more while stealing nine bases. The Dores’ outfielder will be the lone Commodore in the game that will be televised on Saturday, July 27th at 3:30 p.m. CT on Fox College Sports.

Wiseman is not the only VU player to earn an All-Star nod this summer with pitchers Steven Rice and Pat Delano dominating in the New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star game over the weekend. Delano allowed one hit in his one scoreless inning of relief for the West squad. The big right-hander has had a strong summer for the Vermont Moutaineers pitching in eight games, going 2-0 and allowing 10 hits in 14.0 innings with 11 strikeouts. Rice has also enjoyed an outstanding summer with the Sanford Mainers going 3-1 with five saves in 10 games. The lefty notched the save for the East squad in the All-Star game on Sunday punching out two in a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
