Nashville, Tenn. – Left-hander Corey Williams has signed a professional contract with Minnesota as the Twins’ third round pick. The deal makes Williams the seventh Commodore to sign a pro contract this summer.
Williams had a solid year for Vanderbilt in his return from a shattered knee cap in 2010. This season the lefty went 2-0 with a 4.46 ERA in 29 games, one start. Williams pitched in all four of the Dores’ games in Omaha at the College World Series.<>
Williams joins Sonny Gray (Oakland), Aaron Westlake (Detroit), Curt Casali (Detroit), Mark Lamm (Atlanta), Taylor Hill (Washington) and Bryan Johns (Boston) as former Commodores that turned pro this year.
