Williams and Steed Earn All-SEC Honors

Williams was selected to the All-SEC first team, while Steed was named to the All-SEC freshman team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On Thursday, the SEC announced Vanderbilt men’s golfers Wells Williams and Jon Ed Steed received all-conference honors, as Williams was named first-team All-SEC and Steed was selected to the All-SEC freshman team.

It is the third All-SEC honor for Williams during his four seasons at Vanderbilt. The senior was a second-team selection in 2024-25 and named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2022-23. The West Point, Mississippi, native was also selected as the 2025-26 SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year, as he garnered the award for the second-straight season. Williams becomes the 14th Commodore in program history to earn multiple selections to the All-SEC first or second teams.

For Steed, he becomes the first Commodore to be selected to the SEC All-Freshman team since Williams in 2022-23. Overall, the Enterprise, Alabama, native is the 10th Vanderbilt men’s golfer in program history to earn All-SEC freshman team honors.

Williams enjoyed a stellar 2025-26 campaign. The West Point, Mississippi, native leads the team in scoring average at 70.10 and has collected a team-high seven top-10 finishes this season. The senior is currently No. 7 in the PGA TOUR University rankings and No. 22 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Williams carded under par in a team-best 20 rounds, while he has had his score has counted in 28 of the 30 rounds he has played. The All-American posted a season-low 54-hole score of 7-under 205 at the 2026 Linger Longer Invitational. He carded his best 18-hole total of 6-under 64 twice this season, most recently coming in Round 1 of the 2026 SEC Championship. Williams’ best finish of the 2025-26 season to date came at the Invitational at the Honors Course, where he tied for third with a three-round score of 5-under 211.

Steed is enjoying a breakout rookie campaign for the Commodores. The first-year Dore ranks second on the team in scoring average at 71.17 and has posted a pair of top-five finishes. The Enterprise, Alabama, native has played in all 10 events this season and has had his score count in 24 of the 30 rounds. He is the second-highest-ranked freshman in the SEC on CLIPPD rankings. Steed’s best 18-hole performance came in the third round of the Linger Longer Invitational, as he carded 4-under 67. His best 54-hole total also came at the Linger Longer, where he carded 9-under 207 to finish in fourth place.
