ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Recording her second consecutive round below par, Vanderbilt sophomore Jacqui Concolino carded a 3-under 68 Friday to remain atop the field at 7-under 135 following the second round of the NCAA Central Regional at the University of Michigan Golf Course (Par 71; 6,116 yards).

Starting at No. 10, Concolino carded four birdies, including two on her first three holes of the round. She posted par on 13 holes for the day and went without a score about par until finishing with a bogey at No. 9.

The Florida native is one shot ahead of Southern California’s Paola Moreno who registered the best round of the day at 5-under 66, climbing to 5-under 136 for the tournament. TCU’s Catherine Matranga is third at 2-under 140.

“I give Jacqui a lot of credit,” Vanderbilt head coach Martha Richards said. “She has put the team on her back like any all-American does in the postseason. She’s been very consistent and is driving and putting the ball very well.”

The Commodores remained in fourth place in the team standings at 17-over 585 with an 11-over 295 on Friday. Vanderbilt is 14 shots behind Southern California (571) who also continues to separate from TCU (580) and Indiana (584).

Commodore junior Liebelei Lawrence carded two birdies and posted par on seven other holes on the front nine to finish at 4-over 75 on Friday. Lawrence is tied for 27th place with eight other players at 7-over 149.

Senior Kristen Svicarovich is tied for 36th place with 11 other players at 8-over 150 following her 5-over 76. Four bogies on her final six holes prevented a better finish. Senior Chris Brady and freshman Brooke Goodwin are tied for 58th place at 11-over 153. Brady finished with a 7-over 78 while Goodwin took a 5-over 76 on Friday.

Vanderbilt will start final-round play on Saturday from the 10th hole at 7:10 a.m. CT.

“We got off to a tough start today,” Richards said. “The back nine has some real teeth to it and we’ll start there again (on Saturday). Our team will need to come ready to play from the beginning, but I still believe we can enjoy a lot of success on this course.”

The top eight teams and two individuals advance to the NCAA Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., May 22-25. Vanderbilt is looking to make its first appearance at the NCAA Championship since 2004.
