Head Coach Scott Limbaugh on the 2024 Mason Rudolph Championship
“Playing at home in front of our fans at the Mason Rudolph Championship is always one of our favorite weeks of the year. It’s a great way to end the regular season. This team, and previous teams before, have worked to build a standard of excellence in everything we do and we take a lot of pride in being able to do that at home. I know everyone appreciates what this group has given to Vanderbilt University. Our golf team and I would love to feel that support over the weekend.

“I’m trying to slow down and enjoy every single moment I have with these guys. I think it’s important for our guys to be able to lock in this week on what’s important, while also knowing we haven’t played our best tournament yet this spring. We have definitely had guys step up every week, but we haven’t had that complete team tournament yet. There are a lot of things we need to tighten up before heading into championship season. Physically, it’s about being more accepting of what we are and where we are, and mentally, it’s about not losing concentration. We have one more opportunity to build another layer of toughness as a team and that’s what we need to do.”

The Last Time Out
Vandy concluded the Valspar Collegiate in second place at 15-under 837. The Dores posted scores of 279-286-272 over three rounds of play at the Floridian National Golf Club. Vandy’s Round 3 score of 272 was the low round at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. The Commodores also paced the field with 61 birdies, 28 of which came during Tuesday’s final round.

Graduate student Matthew Riedel finished in a tie for second at the 2024 Valspar Invitational, as he carded 9-under 204 over three rounds. Riedel finished at 7-under 64 in Round 3, which allowed him to shoot up eight spots on the player leaderboard to finish in a tie for second. It is his best finish this season, while it is Riedel’s fourth time placing inside the top 10 during the 2023-24 campaign.
