Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt went 2-2 on the week with a home win against Dayton on Tuesday and a road win at No. 19 Oklahoma on Sunday.

The Commodores stole a season-high nine bases en route to a 9-2 win over Dayton.  Five different Dores tallied a stolen base led by Mike Mancini with three and two each for Jonathan Vastine and Jacob Humphrey. It was the most steals in a game for Vanderbilt since at least 2009, coming up three steals shy of matching the program’s record of 12 in 1989.

Oklahoma grabbed the first two games of the series in Norman before Vanderbilt punched back with a 13-2, run-rule victory in eight innings on Sunday.

Vanderbilt scored in seven of eight innings and finished with 11 hits. Four Commodores enjoyed a multi-hit game led by Riley Nelson who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. Braden Holcomb also homered and drove in a team-high four RBI on a 2-for-4 day including a double.

Next up for the Commodores is a meeting with Lipscomb at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Hawkins Field. After Tuesday’s contest the Commodores host No. 5 Georgia for a three-game series beginning Thursday.
