Commodore Notes
The Commodores went 3-1 on the week, defeating Indiana State on Tuesday and taking two of three against No. 13 LSU on SEC Opening Weekend. Vandy has now won 10 of its last 12 series over the Tigers.
Wyatt Nadeau was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday after totaling 10 strikeouts over seven innings in Saturday’s win over LSU. Nadeau, making his first SEC start and just his second collegiate start, earned his first career win, holding the Tigers to three runs on four hits.
The Commodores hit 10 more home runs over the four games and now have 52 on the season to rank second among DI programs. Vandy ranks fourth in slugging and sixth in walks. Defensively, the Dores have turned 23 double plays to lead the SEC and rank second in DI.
Six different Commodores tallied at least five hits on the week. Tommy Goodin went 5-for-9 with three home runs. Mike Mancini hit .429 with two homers and a team-high eight RBI.
Vanderbilt concludes its 10-game homestand Tuesday against Indiana. First pitch has been moved to 2 p.m. due to inclement weather. The Commodores then head to No. 6 Mississippi State for three games against the Bulldogs this weekend.
