Commodore Notes
The Commodores went 5-0 last week with four consecutive run-rule wins over Eastern Michigan and Marist.
Over the first five home games of the season, the Commodores are outscoring their opponents 65-11 while hitting .427 as a team with 13 home runs.
On the mound, Vandy’s pitching staff owns a 2.13 ERA with 49 strikeouts over 38 innings during the win streak.
Braden Holcomb was named SEC Player of the Week after going 11-for-19 at the plate with three home runs and 10 RBI. The junior tallied four multi-hit games and slugged 1.158 over the five games.
On the season, Vanderbilt ranks third in DI in home runs (22), fourth in slugging (.680), 11th in average (.352), 12th in runs (83), 13th in on-base percentage (.472) and 16th in walks (53). The Commodore pitching staff ranks 35th in strikeouts per nine innings (11.4) and in 27th in WHIP (1.12).
Individually, Logan Johnstone’s 12 walks leads the SEC and ranks third nationally. Holcomb ranks fifth in the SEC and 22nd in DI in hits with 14 and third in the SEC and 12th nationally in RBI (15). Brodie Johnston is fourth nationally in home runs (5).
Vanderbilt finished off the homestand Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. against Evansville before heading west to Las Vegas for the Live Like Lou College Classic.
