Commodore Notes
The Commodores picked up a win over Middle Tennessee on Tuesday before No. 24 Alabama swept the series on the road over the weekend.

On Tuesday, Vandy starting pitcher Connor Hamilton earned the win with six strong innings. The freshman held MTSU to one run on six hits and tallied seven strikeouts without issuing a walk. Offensively, the Commodores scored in each of the first four innings and clubbed three home runs.

Alabama rallied from a three-run deficit in the series opener on Thursday and hit a walk-off home run in the ninth to take the first game. Vanderbilt totaled nine hits in Friday’s contest but were unable to scratch a run across as the Crimson Tide clinched the series with a 5-0 win. Vanderbilt fell behind early in the finale on Saturday but clawed back into the game over the middle innings. Alabama would hold off the rally to win 8-5.

The Commodores clubbed seven home runs on the week to reach 97 for the season. The Dores need three homers to tie the program record of 100 set in 2019.

Colin Barczi hit three out of the park and drove in eight runs in Vanderbilt’s four games.

Next up for the Commodores is the Battle of the Barrel contest against Louisville on Tuesday at Hawkins Field. Due to weather, Tuesday’s game has been moved to a 5 p.m. first pitch.

Vanderbilt then heads to Missouri for a three-game series beginning Friday.
