Commodore Notes
The Commodores bounced back with a series sweep over No. 15 Kentucky this weekend at Hawkins Field. The Dores won 6-4 on Friday, 9-3 on Saturday and walked off the Wildcats 3-2 in Sunday’s finale.

Patrick Reilly took over on the mound in the fourth inning Friday and pitched 4.1 innings, striking out 10 while holding Kentucky to just one run on two hits. RJ Schreck hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the fifth to give Vandy its first lead. On Saturday, the Commodores were led offensively by freshmen RJ Austin and Chris Maldonado. The duo combined for four hits and six runs driven in. They hit back-to-back homers in the third.

Devin Futrell turned in a quality start in Game 3 on Sunday, but Kentucky maintained a 2-1 lead until the ninth inning. Parker Noland got things started with a single and Polk doubled to left to put the tying run on third and the winning run on second. Noland scored on an infield single by Jonathan Vastine to bring Alan Espinal to the plate in a 2-2 game, setting up the walk-off winner. Espinal drove the game-winning hit to the gap in left-center, plating Polk and securing the sweep.

The Commodores host Georgia State at 6 p.m. Tuesday night before hitting the road to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, fora. three-game series against the Crimson Tide beginning Thursday. Game 1 at Alabama will be on ESPNU, Game 2 will air on SEC Network and Game 3 on Saturday will be on SECN+.
