Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt baseball opened the 2024 campaign with a series win over Florida Atlantic at Hawkins Field. The Dores walked off the Owls, 12-11, in Game 1, lost 5-4 in Game 2 and claimed the series with an 11-1 win in Game 3.

Jonathan Vastine hit a two out, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth on Friday to give the Commodores a 12-11 win in the season opener. RJ Austin went 4-for-5 at the plate with a three-run homer.

The Dores were unable to mount a ninth-inning comeback on Saturday in Game 2, but the bats exploded for 11 runs in the series finale on Sunday. Vastine tripled in the game to finish the weekend 5-for-11 with a team-high six RBI. Devin Futrell turned in a quality start on Sunday. The southpaw went six innings and struck out five while limiting the FAU offense to one run on three hits and no walks. Freshman Brennan Seiber relieved Futrell and recorded a three-inning save in his collegiate debut. Seiber retired all nine batters he faced on just 27 pitches.
