Pregame Notes
– The Commodores and Lady Vols are meeting for the 61st time overall–Vanderbilt’s most contested rivalry
– Tennessee holds a 53-7 advantage in the series. Five of Vanderbilt’s victories have come inside Memorial Gymnasium, including a 74-58 victory in 2009.
– The series dates back to Nov. 21, 1979, a 77-53 win for the Lady Vols.
– The teams have played a home-and-home series every year since 1994, also meeting in the postseason eight times during that stretch.

Postgame Notes
– With the loss, the Commodores fall to 17-7 overall, 6-5 in SEC play. The No. 5 Lady Vols improve to 21-2, 9-1 in SEC play.
– Senior Merideth Marsh, who had 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists, led the Commodores. She now has 1,173 points for her career.
Jence Rhoads followed with 15 points, and Lauren Lueders contributed 12, all 3-pointers, for Vanderbilt.
– Vanderbilt is now 10-4 in night games and 3-5 on televised contests.
– Their record against ranked teams on the season is now 1-3.
– The Commodores are 3-5 when tied at halftime and 1-7 when trailing with five minutes remaining.
– VU was held to 35.8% shooting to UT’s 44.6%. The `Dores were also outrebounded 38-26, falling to 9-6 on the season when being outrebounded by their opponent.

First Half – Vanderbilt 28, Tennessee 28
– Vanderbilt and Tennessee traded baskets for the first three minutes of the contest with Tennessee gaining as much as a four-point lead in that period.
Merideth Marsh brought Vanderbilt back within one with a 3-pointer at the 16:39 mark of the first half.
– The Lady Vols went up to an early five-point lead, but Lauren Lueders brought the Commodores within two with a much needed 3-pointer at the 14:42 mark of the first half. Vanderbilt went scoreless for nearly two minutes.
– Vanderbilt tied the game with a highly contested Hannah Tuomi layup at the 13:05 mark of the first half.
Jence Rhoads tied the game once again for the `Dores with a jumper at the 11:XX mark of the first half.
– Vanderbilt took its first lead of the game at the 9:27 mark of the first half with a reverse layup by Elan Brown.
– With Jence Rhoads’ jumper at the 8:10 mark of the first half, Vanderbilt gained a lead of four, jumping ahead 20-16.
Merideth Marsh hit a clutch 3-pointer at the 6:XX mark of the first half to bring Vanderbilt ahead by five.
– With a reverse layup at the 4:09 mark of the first half, Merideth Marsh gave the Commodores an eight-point lead, getting fouled in the process and completing the 3-point play.
– In 6:14, Vanderbilt went on a 12-2 run. Tennessee answered, ending the half on an 8-0 run, tying the game at 28 points apiece heading into halftime.
Merideth Marsh led Vanderbilt with nine points and five rebounds. Jence Rhoads contributed six points.
– Both teams were held to under 40% shooting (37.9% for VU; 36.7% for UT).
– The Commodores shot 50% from the perimeter, besting UT’s 0-for-3. VU is 10-1 on the season when making more 3-pointers than its opponent.

Second Half
Lauren Lueders started the half off strong for the Commodores, hitting a 3-pointer 16 seconds into the second half.
– After Tennessee responded with a layup at the 19:20 mark, both teams were held scoreless for 3:47 until a Merideth Marsh layup at the 15:33 mark of the second half pushed the Commodores up by three.
– Clutch free throw shooting by Merideth Marsh put the Commodores up by four at the 13:40 mark of the second half.
Lauren Lueders nailed a 3-pointer at the 11:40 mark of the second half to answer Tennessee’s jumper and put the `Dores back up by four.
– With a spinning layup at the 9:57 mark of the second half, Merideth Marsh once again worked to extend the Commodores’ lead.
– With a Jence Rhoads jumper at the 9:20 mark of the second half, Vanderbilt extended its lead to five, the largest since halftime.
– With perfect shooting from the charity stripe, Tiffany Clarke came through for the `Dores, extending their lead to seven.
Lauren Lueders hit her fourth 3-pointer of the game to put Vanderbilt up by six at the 7:12 mark of the second half.
– Tennessee proceeded to go on a 14-8 scoring run to take the lead with a layup by Alicia Manning with five minutes to go. The `Dores are 1-6 on the season when trailing with five minutes remaining.
– The Commodores pulled within one of the Lady Vols’ lead with a driving layup by Jence Rhoads at the 3:38 mark of the second half. She then proceeded to make both of her free throws at the 2:54 mark to bring the Commodores back within one after a Glory Johnson jumper. This is the closest the Commodores would get to the Lady Vols.
