NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With June Stewart herself on hand to watch the final matches, the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team captured the championships of all five singles draws as well as the doubles bracket in the final day of the June Stewart Invitational.
The duo of Lauren Mira and Erica Robertson battled with Alex Leatu and Rachael Dillon in the Valentine doubles draw, and eventually came away with a 9-7 victory. Robertson also claimed a singles championship after defeating teammate Megan Gornet, 6-0, 6-3, in the final match of the Peterson draw.
In the Roby draw, Keilly Ulery topped Murray State’s Taylor Vick, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0, in the championship match. Chelsea Preeg defeated Leatu, 6-2, 6-1, in the final match of the Alexander draw, while Jackie Wu topped Mira, 6-3, 6-4, in the Stotts draw. In the matchup between Dillon and Nelly Radeva in the Balafas draw, each player won a set 6-2 before Dillon claimed the third set, also by a score of 6-2.
The Commodores travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. next weekend for the Kitty Harrison Invitational, hosted by UNC.
