VU netters defeat MTSU 6-1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt made quick work of the top four singles matches and went on to drop Middle Tennessee State, 6-1, in women’s tennis action Thursday.

The Commodores, 2-1, saw Catherine Newman, Courtney Ulery, Chelsea Preeg and Heather Steinbauer win singles events in straight sets after taking the doubles point in equally fast fashion. Hannah Blatt also won in straight sets at No. 6 singles.

The visiting Raiders scored in the No. 5 singles when Alexandra Dachos edged Erica Robertson in a tie-breaker third set.

Vanderbilt is now idle until Feb. 21, when they host Yale Feb. 21 at the Currey Tennis Center.
