Dec. 20, 2017

Head coach Derek Mason and his staff signed 17 new Commodores in the first-ever early signing period on Wednesday.

Mason’s fourth class at Vanderbilt features players from eight states and fills 10 different spots on the Dores’ roster with four defensive backs, three linebackers, three wide receivers, three offensive linemen, two tight ends, one kicker, one running back and one quarterback.

The class has seven prospects rated as four-star athletes to help push the class into the top 30 in two of the three major recruiting services – 247Sports No. 30 and ESPN No. 30 – and into the top 40 in a third – Rivals No. 34. The class ranking is the highest for Vanderbilt since 2013.
