CANTON, Mich. – Vanderbilt’s bid for a national championship came up just short Saturday at Super Bowl Lanes, as Nebraska defeated the Commodores, 4.5-2.5, to claim the title.
Vanderbilt dropped the first game to trail 1-0 in the best of seven Baker format. But the Commodores responded by winning two straight games to take a 2-1 advantage. The two squads tied in the fourth game and each team earned half a point. Nebraska would then take the final three games to win the title.
Vanderbilt was looking to claim its second national title and first since 2007.
After the championship match, Vanderbilt senior Jessica Earnest was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
