KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s run at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional ended Sunday afternoon when Chelsea Preeg fell in the semifinal round of the singles draw. Three Commodores began Sunday in the quarterfinals, but Jackie Wu and Lauren Mira were unable to advance.
Vanderbilt’s two semifinal losses were at the hands of the University of Tennessee, as Wu was defeated by Brynn Boren, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, and Mira fell to Maria Sorbello, 6-1, 6-4.
Preeg picked up a three set win over Evansville’s Kate Chybowski (6-2, 2-6, 4-6) to reach the semifinal match against Boren. Boren was again victorious over a ‘Dore, notching a 6-1, 6-2, win to advance to the finals.
The women’s tennis team has two tournaments remaining in fall play, including the annual June Stewart Tournament, held at the Curry Tennis Center on Vanderbilt’s campus, Oct. 29-31.
