NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s highly-anticipated Mason Rudolph Championship begins Friday when the Commodores host 14 other teams for a three-day event.
The 54-hole tournament is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
“We are so excited and thankful to finally be hosting the Mason Rudolph Championship again this year. It’s exciting for our student-athletes to play at home always, but especially for the first time in a couple of years with fans present,” Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh said. “We are so grateful for the staff at Vanderbilt Legends Club and appreciate how much they take pride in our program. I think it’s really unique and special to have that kind of support. I would really appreciate any support we can get this weekend and I know they boys would as well.”
Limbaugh’s team, which has won two of its last three tournaments and finished second in the other, won the last Mason Rudolph in 2019. There was no event in 2020 and 2021.
The Commodores also took home the team title in 2018, 2016, 2015, 2012 and 2002. Vandy, ranked third in the latest Golfstat Division I Top 10, is scheduled to see its first golfer tee off at 9:45 a.m. Friday.
“The spring season is winding down and it’s important for us to continue to build on some of the positive things we’ve been doing,” Limbaugh said. “We all know there are things we can do better and that’s where our focus has been. I like this team a lot and I love their competitive character. I know they are excited for the week and I want them to be free and have fun.”
Gordon Sargent, Cole Sherwood, Reid Davenport, Harrison Ott and William Moll will be wearing the black and gold and competing for Vanderbilt as a team this weekend. Jackson Van Paris, Michael Shears and Matthew Riedel will be on the course playing as individuals.
Auburn, Ball State, Cincinnati, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Santa Clara, Tennessee, West Virginia and Western Kentucky will join host Vanderbilt in the field of 15.
