NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swim team is back in action this week as the travel down to Houston on Friday, Nov. 18, for the annual Phill Hansel Invitational. The Commodores will be one of ten teams competing in the three-day invitational at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.
The invitational will have a total of 21 events over the weekend with 13 individual swims, five relays and three diving events. The prelims will begin each day at 10 am CT and the finals will be at 6 pm CT on Friday and Saturday while the finals on Sunday will begin at 5 pm CT.
The Commodores are coming off an impressive showing against in-state foe Tennessee a few weeks ago. Despite the loss, the ‘Dores racked up five individual wins from Selah Peacock (1000 freestyle), Johanna Goldblatt (100 backstroke), Breinne Thorne (200 backstroke), Kara Lucenti (200 breaststroke), and Breanna Sapienza (100 butterfly). Many Vanderbilt swimmers had season-best times against the Volunteers and look to keep the momentum going into this weekend.
“Really looking forward to the Houston Fall Invitational in a couple weeks,” stated head coach Jeremy Organ after the UT meet. “The girls have been getting better and better each week and we hope to continue that trend when we head down to Houston in two weeks.”
